EMW | Drava Bike Family Cycling

The European Mobility Week (EMW), taking place from September 16th to 22nd, offers an opportunity to shift travel habits towards more sustainable options, with a focus this year on the design of public spaces for all users. Well-organized spaces bring numerous benefits to the community.

This year's emphasis is on creating public spaces that cater to everyone, especially by reclaiming areas currently occupied by cars. The central message of this year's event, "Comfortable Public Space – For Everyone," highlights the importance of equitable use of public spaces. The theme of the European Mobility Week 2024 encourages reflection on fairer treatment of public spaces, ensuring they are safe for all, particularly pedestrians and cyclists.

In line with this, we invite you to join us for a "Drava Bike Family Cycling Trip" connecting Maribor and Ruše. The section between Limbuš and Ruše is the most popular and safest part of the Drava Bike Route, making it ideal for families. In case of rain, the cycling event will be canceled.

2. Meeting Point: Lent Maribor at the Oldest Vine in the World
3. Start Time: 10:00 AM
4. Route: From Lent, we will cross the Studenci Footbridge to the left bank of the Drava River, cycle along the river Drava for the first part. We will then proceed through the Studenci Forest to the Limbuš Riverbank, home to the Mariborsko Jezero Landscape Park, where you can explore the rich flora and fauna. The route continues between Limbuš and Ruše, with stops at Drava Bike rest areas and presentations of nearby attractions.
5. End Point: Sports Park Ruše

Our Tip and Recommendation: You can extend your trip to Green Caffe or HE Fala. On your way back to Maribor, consider stopping for a meal at Restavracija Vnukec.

During Mobility Week, a new e-bike charging station will be introduced at Sports Park Ruše as a sustainable measure, allowing cyclists to perform minor bike repairs.
